Duo-Core Vs Core 2 Duo

" .. Are u Dual Cored Or Cored 2 duo .. "

Dual core
is simply a generic term referring to any processor package with two physical CPUs in one. The Pentium D, Core Duo, Core 2 Duo and Athlon X2 are all current CPUs that have dual cores in one package.

The Pentium D is simply two Pentium 4 Prescott cpus inefficiently paired together and ran as dual core.

The Core Duo is Intel's first generation dual core processor based upon the Pentium M (a Pentium III-4 hybrid) made mostly for laptops (though a few motherboard manufacturers have released desktop boards supporting the Core Duo CPU), and is much more efficiently than Pentium D.

The Core 2 Duo is Intel's second generation (hence, Core 2) processor made for desktops and laptops designed from the ground up to be fast while not consuming nearly as much power as previous CPUs.

Note - Intel has dropped the Pentium name in favor of the Core architecture as Intel is restructuring and refocusing it's efforts to become number one again (and are doing a fine job, might I add).

The AMD Athlon X2 CPUs have two revisions, the first one is essentially very similiar to the Pentium Ds in that they are simply two Athlon 64 chips fused together, making power requirements quite steep (around 89 watts). The second revision is made more efficiently, like the Core Duos, with much less power consumption (around 65 watts).

There are, of course, other differences, but that is the gist of dual cores as it relates to Intel and AMD.

There is a saying about AMD that " Its hotter than Jessica simpson but also slower than Jessica simpson.."

NTLDR is Missing : Press any Key to Restart......Stuckkk...!!

What is NTLDR?

NTLDR is short for NT loader - a program loaded from the hard drive boot sector that displays the Microsoft Windows NT startup menu and helps Microsoft Windows NT load। So when it goes missing for some reason, your windows cannot load। I use Windows XP on a Pentium 4 PC.

“When your computer starts, the BIOS attempts to find the primary hard drive’s active partition to read the first sector for the MBR (Master Boot Record), it uses that info to load the rest of the OS। For Windows NT4/2k/XP the NTLDR (New Technology Loader) takes it from there। If you get the “NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart” what’s most likely going on is the BIOS either didn’t look for the right drive, didn’t find the right partition, it wasn’t active, didn’t find the MBR, or the MBR didn’t list NTLDR in the right place, or the location of NTLDR changed।”

Cause:
1. Computer is booting from a non-bootable source.
2. Computer hard disk drive is not properly setup in BIOS.
3. Corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file.
4. Misconfiguration with the boot.ini file.
5. Attempting to upgrade from a Windows 95, 98, or ME computer that is using FAT32.
6. New hard disk drive being added.
7. Corrupt boot sector / master boot record.
8. Seriously corrupted version of Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
9। Loose or Faulty IDE/EIDE hard disk drive cable.

सॉल्यूशन :

Windows XP users
  1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
  2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
  3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
  4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
  5. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
  6. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E". This letter may be different on your computer.

    copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
    copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

  7. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

Manual File Re-Patching

This method attempts to copy and replace the corrupted file from the Windows Installation disc to your hard disk. To start, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the Windows 2000 or Windows XP CD into your computer as default boot up media.

  2. Enter Windows Recovery Console

  3. At the command prompt, assuming drive D refers to your CD Drive, type in the following and hit Enter:

Press Y when prompted to overwrite any existing file.

    • copy D:\i386\ntldr C:\

    • copy D:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\

  4. Restart the कम्प्यूटर.

Show Run Command on Start Menu in Vista

Just type in the name of the executable and it will search your hard drive for it and run it. This is a great feature but if you have a lot of files on your computer, then be prepared for a short delay since it may have to search for a while.

1. Right click on your taskbar and select Properties.

2। Click on the Start Menu Tab and then select Customize.

3। Scroll through the list and check the run
Command check box.

Speeding up network browsing

A bug in Windows 2000, causes the scheduled tasks folder to be searched, whenever the user browses network drives. While Microsoft has developed a fix for this bug, the fix slows down the browsing of Microsoft networks. In order to fix this problem, go to Start > Run,

type in regedit and press [Enter]. Navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace.

  • Then find a key named {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}.
  • Right-click on it and delete it.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Now you will be able to browse the network a lot faster

101 Run Commands

Do you use the Run feature in Windows XP? For most, this feature remains unused (or rarely used). Why is that? Well, first off nearly all of the Run Commands Correspond to a particular Control Panel Item or a Utility, Tool or Task that can be accessed through Windows. There are, however, tools and utilities that I bet you never knew you had that can be accessed through the Run feature. The main reason most people don’t use the Run feature is because they don’t know the Commands. Pop a banner each time Windows Boots

To Pop a banner which can contain any message you want to

display just before a user is going to log on, go to the

key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

\WinLogon
Now create a new string Value in the right pane named

LegalNoticeCaption and enter the value that you want to see

in the Menu Bar. Now create yet another new string value and

name it: LegalNoticeText. Modify it and insert the message

you want to display each time Windows boots. This can be

effectively used to display the company's private policy

each

time the user logs on to his NT box. It's .reg file would

be:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio

n\Winlogon]

"LegalNoticeCaption"="Caption here."

Disabling Display of Drives in My Computer

This is yet another trick you can play on your geek friend. To disable the display of local or networked drives when you click My Computer go to :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Now in the right pane create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives. Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal) Now press F5 to refresh. When you click on My Computer, no drives will be shown. To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item. It's .reg file is as follows:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

"NoDrives"=dword:03ffffff

Playing Videos in MS-PAINT

Simple way to play any kinda video in ms-paint, just follow the simple steps-

1) Open your favorite movie player and play the movie.(I played the .mpeg format in Windows Media Player)

2) Hit "PrintScreen", keep playing the movie in the player, dont stop it.

3) Open MsPaint.

4) Select "Edit>Paste" Or Hit "CTRL+V"

5) Presto! You can watch movie in Paint!

But there are no Pause, Next, Previous, Stop etc. buttons

Double ur Inernet speed

Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates and interrogating your PC etc

You can get it back:

Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:
Local Computer Policy
then Computer Configuration
then Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth.

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.

How did you like it.please comment.

Note:This trick works only for windows xp sp2 professional and windows 2000 professional. It does not work on windows xp sp2 home edition.
